 "Satisfied customer" 2010-01-31
By L. Dundovich (Eldridge, IA)
I was very satisfied with product and the value. This is the second 26" Vizio that we have purchased. We bought the same one for our other son and have not had any problems with either one. The picture quality is excellent and works well for movies and videogames - which is what our kids use them for. I also like the sound quality better on the Vizio vs. our samsung 26" tv. I would definitely recommend this TV to others. Great value!

For the price it is a value. The color is great. I was always a Sony's brand and afraid to switch. It is a great tv and I'll considered buying a larger Vizio when I get purchase a home.

 "Crisp, Sleek, Awesome Quality" 2010-01-25
By The Geek (USA)
My wife and I went to Best Buy today hoping to walk out of the store with the Sony BRAVIA 26-inch tv, which sold for about $389.99. When we arrived, this model was no longer available. Best Buy wasn't even pushing their own line, which is Insignia. Instead, the sales people were pushing me to upgrade to a 32-inch Sony. The intent of this new purchase was to install the tv into a bedroom and all we had was about 28-inches of reasonable space to install the tv on the wall. Even though the 32-inch Sony would be a great picture, we knew it would not fit in the wall space. We looked at the Insignia 26-inch 720p DVD Combo unit for about $329.99 and were ready to walk out the door with it, but hesitated and decided to check out BJ's Wholesale before.

When we walked into BJ's, we immediately saw the Vizio 26-inch VL260M LCD HDTV for about $319 and thought it was a great buy. Then we noticed with amaze that it was a Full HD 1080P. That is what made us decide on the purchase and walked out the door with it.

First off, there is no comparison between the Vizio 1080P versus the Best Buy Insignia 720P. The differences were in favor of the Vizio because of the higher pixels of 1080P; plus the price was about $10 cheaper for a better quality picture and brand.

Now, let me fill you in on a little secret. Even though I have a technical background, I am not up to par with the LCD tv's. This is my first LCD tv, upgrading from a big bulky tube tv. I really didn't know what the differences were until I started researching, only to discover that the 1080P meant the tv had 1080 pixels, versus the 720P. What this meant was the with 1080P, the clarity of the picture would be cleaner and crispier. For the $319 price at BJ's, I thought it was a steal.

I also purchased the Sylvania Wall Mount for 18" - 40" Plasma/LCD TVs for about $80 at BJ's. I wanted a heavy mount and one that would have full motion for me to move the screen from out of the corner to a good area where I could view the picture. This wall mount was also purchased at BJ's. Best Buy wanted to sell me a wall mount for $99 that would only allow the tv to move from left to right and not swivel or move up or down. If I wanted that feature, I would have to pay at least another $50 more. Instead, I saved and feel I got a very good mount for the Vizio tv.

Now onto the Vizio tv. Installation was simple. After mounting the wall mount bracket, I had to mount the tv onto the back of it and then it slid right into the bracket on the wall. Piece of cake. The tv is packaged in the box with the stand bracket, but I removed it to give a sleeker look when mounted on the wall.

Since I only bought the tv a few hours ago, I haven't quite got into all the audio and video hookups yet. That's my project for tomorrow, to hook up the speakers and other external devices. But, once you plug in the cable line to the back of the tv and turn it on, the setup mode is active. After you make your proper selections, choosing cable, the system will then do a search for all channels available, showing both the number of digital and analog channels while searching. The search takes about 5 minutes or so, but it runs by itself. After it is done, you are finished. It's that simple.

You don't need to be a technical wizard to install this tv, especially on a wall mount. I was planning on having my electrician mount the tv and set everything up, but that would have cost me more money. I thought that as long as I followed the directions, I could install it myself, which I did.

I also compared the Vizio to the Samsung and liked the sleeker look of the Vizio. It has more of a flat look to it, rather than the bulky Samsung shape. The deal at BJ's Wholesale was great, especially where now I am seeing normal retail prices for about $350. So, I saved a few bucks at a wholesale club. Either way, I would have spent the $350 for this tv because the clarity is incredible.

This model is beautifully styled with what Vizio calls a "dark java brown finish". I really don't know what drak java brown looks like but it's pretty close to black, IMO. The 1080p resolution displays razor sharp images and has a 50,000:1 contrast ratio for deep blacks and bright, vibrant colors. One of its features, which I have yet to experience is the SRS Trusurround HD(tm). I have a Bose surround system I intend to install on this and am sure with the SRS Truurround feature, it'll blow me out of the room.

There is another nice feature on this TV I am looking forward to experiencing. It is the capability of supporting connectivity to a computer via RGB to VGA connectivity. This is a feature I was looking for because having the ability to experience what I see on my computer, I can probably do the same with this TV.

The downside is there is no USB hookup, but if I can get my computer hooked up to it, who needs the USB port. It also does not have a built in DVD player, but then again, who needs it. You can buy a simple Sony dvd player for about $50 and plug it into the back of this TV. I am not really a big fan of builtins like the DVD player because if there is a problem with it, that's the end of it period. If the DVD player breaks or stops working, it's useless and you can't remove it and replace with a new one.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this Vizio model to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive and quality product. I think you will agree that the clarity on this LCD is pretty close to a Sony. Believe me that you will enjoy the TV experience.

Then first unit was lost in transit - did not arrive until after Christmas. Amazon arranged a replacement unit and waived the shipping charge - high expectations of service are always warranted at Amazon.

The TV is as advertised, with the 1080p resolution and a Blu-Ray dvd player the image is very nice. The remote is uncluttered, clearly labelled, and therefore easy to use. The blacks are quite dense, and motion is smooth. Thanks to Amazon and the great service - it remains my number one on-line shopping site.

 "Input Problems" 2010-01-01
By J. Wenner
We recently purchased this tv and it was a great value for the price. However, the remote control was broken and the tv does not have a way to switch inputs manually. Vizio's customer service was very helpful and is sending us a new remote, but even the rep was surprised that there was no way to switch inputs without a remote. I hope that Vizio changes this design flaw.

 "Love my new Vizio" 2010-01-26
By Anita M. Wilson (Erie, PA)
My Vizio 42" HDTV is just the right size for my living room. Picture quality is excellent for HD programs and very good on others. I purchased a Vizio soundbar and sub-woofer to provide a fuller sound, and I am very satisfied with the results. I had planned to purchase a Sony Bravia, but it has a lot more features that I didn't need and didn't want to pay for. I'm happy with my Vizio.

Was going to get a phillips tv but was sold out so I looked at the vizio. build quality looked solid and everything worked as it should. Havent had any issues thus far. Only thing that will ever show that the tv was cheaper then normal is the manual with its cheap photos but thats nothing to complain about.

Also to fix the change in volume from the speakers turn off the srs true volume. It tends to over correct the volume and thus creates the random volume levels.

"VIZIO vt420m great bang for your buck" 2010-01-05
By Oscar D. Garcia (San Jose,ca)
I tried really hard to find a comparable difference between SONY , SAMSUNG, VIZIO on tvs under 800 dollars. I couldn't find one. I stared at all three televisions for 45 minutes straight...not a considerable difference. For the money, you can't go wrong. its the right balance of size, picture quality and price. I hooked up my ps3 to compare the quality between this tv and a 46" xbr from SONY. I was shocked to see that this tv had by far produced a better picture (although the sony is 2 years old). Audio is poor and does fluctuate from time to time. I've had it for a month and cant say that I've seen any green lines or issues. If you wan't a television under 1000 dollars, i would highly recommend you take a look at this vizio. I don't think vizio can hold a candle when it gets to the higher priced tv's, but when it competes in this price range...it excels

 "Absolute Nightmare" 2009-11-16
By Mathew P. Sewell (Sioux Falls, SD)
I bought my Vizio after my first SONY HDTV died after only 1 year of service. I decided that I would purchase a Vizio as it was far cheaper than a Sony and I couldn't really see what was worth paying more money if the tv would be dead within 1 year anyways.

Well, it started out alright. First day with it was fine. The second day, however, the picture would begin to flicker, then go completely black, once or twice a day. It was fixed by simply turning the tv off and then on, but was still very annoying. However, the problem only got worse, and fast, degrading to the point that the picture would go out nearly once every fifteen minutes over the course of the next week. I contacted Vizio and they had no ready solution and wanted me to send my tv out for up to two months so they could try to find out what was wrong. I had absolutely no desire to ditch the tv for two months, and so I said thanks but no thanks.

I have never had a good experience with and HDTV, but Vizio is the only one that was absolute crap right-out-of-the-box. I Was so frustrated I could have cried. I've now spent $3,0000 on HDTV's in the past 2 years and every single one has died in less than 12 months, but the Vizio went to crap the fastest.

I've had this TV for a 1 1/2 months now and it has been amazing. The picture quality is outstanding - the only way you are going to get better picture is to buy an LED TV, but those have their downside as well.

The built-in speakers are very weak and the audio level sometimes fluctuates a bit. That being said, if you hook it up to an external sound system you won't need the built-in speakers.

This TV works extremely well with my cable box, DVD player and even my Nintendo Wii.

Highly recommended.

"great features but wrong direction for vizio" 2009-12-18
By Jeffery W. Daniels
i have this tv. i just recieved it about 2 days ago. decent picture. although through dish network hd the vizio 47" sv470m handles motion blur much better. this 120 hz tv just doesn't handle fast moving objects very well. seeing that this brand is really pushing that feature on this model makes me wonder which way vizio is heading. also, on 720 you if you watch in normal screen mode, your 47 inch tv is has about 6" black borders all around tv. you can zoom to full screen mode and this fixes it. the hdmi interface seems to be glitchy at times. blu ray also is not as good. i tested on transformers 2. the scene where optimus fights all the deceptacons . the fast paced action on thr transformers was okay but the background appeared blurry at times. once again, on the vizio 47" sv470m (lower cheaper model)it was much better. this tv has poor black levels but the overal picture is decent. i have owned quite a few lcd and plasma tv's and this tv is a good buy only if you pay under 1000$. this tv is suppose to be better than the sv470m. they are both 120hz tv. but the lack of cinema mode one the vt470m stinks. overall experience with the lower model was much better.

"One of better purchases you will make in your life..." 2010-01-20
By Scott Gardner (Utah, USA)
Before I get into the nitty gritty, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a review junkie. Sue me. So when I know I want something like a new HDTV I research high and low to not only find the best price, but I also want pretty darn close to the best product out there on the market. From professional reviews to consumer reviews here on Amazon, I do my best to soak it all in. With that being said, in my experience I've never been disappointed with something I've bought that I've done extensive research on...

And that holds true with the Vizio VF550M.

I bought my set at Costco during the Thanksgiving Weekend Sale. One of the first things I noticed right out of the box was how big it really was. I upgraded from a 46" LCD and the size was noticeably (and awesomely) huger. Yes... huger. When I saw the VF550M display at Costco it just didn't look that big because it was set next to other 50-60 inch sets and in the middle of a huge warehouse. However, while setting it up I realized it was the perfect size for the further viewing distance in our family room. The set-up was easy enough. I mounted the tv with the VideoSecu Adjustable Tilt TV Wall Mount (bought on Amazon) which I was very pleased with. We ran the cables through the wall to my devices to hide them... and I must say, it looks beautiful mounted to a wall. I would definitely recommend mounting this set. I didn't care too much for the remote that came with the TV so I opted to upgrade to the Logitech Harmony 670 remote (also got on amazon).

The picture on this TV was just as good or better than any other HDTV I have ever seen. The black levels are great with the DCR feature. Blu-Ray looks amazing on the big screen. I will admit I jumped on the 120hz bandwagon and as of right now I couldn't be happier with it when it comes to watching sports- but thats all I use 120hz (or "Smooth Motion Effect") for.

PROS

-BIG

-Great 120hz feature for Sports

-Good out of the box sound

-5 HDMI ports!

-Stunning picture

CONS

-Don't care for the remote

 "Excellent TV" 2010-01-08
By M. Haley
I received the Vizio VF550M television from Amazon today and am very happy with my purchase. This is an excellent TV at a fair price. I waited for the price to come down and only paid 1,249.00. No tax and free shipping. It was delivered by Pilot Transport in perfect condition and unlike another reviewer I had no problems with Pilot. The delivery man was very friendly and professional. He brought the tv in to my house, unboxed it, inspected it and plugged it in to test it. It worked perfectly.

The VF550M is a huge screen, crystal clear on HD channels. I was surprised at how good the sound was. Most tv's have very poor sound. This tv's sound is not bad at all but I connected it to my sound system. Sounds great. I'm very happy with this tv.

I also have a 19" and a 32" Vizio both of which I am very happy with. The picture on all 3 are equal to or better than much more expensive brands. I highly recommend Vizio.

"Amazon has crappy customer disclosures" 2010-01-05
By Punky Laura (Van Nuys, CA)
I have been a faithful Amazon.com customer for almost 10+ years. I buy EVERYTHING I can through them. I just bought this TV. The shipping company they use for my area Pilot Transport (So Bay Area, CA) are incompetent and lacks in customer service. Without getting too detailed in the reason why I am disappointed -- NO WHERE in this product information, nor order information, does it display that a restocking fee and return shipment will be charged for this item if refused or returned. Due to the shipping companies lack of professionalism and communication we gave up (frustration) and said just return it and will go to Costco to buy it. Call Amazon they then tell me about the fees I will be charged! I am pissed that they expect me to review the "help" section of the website for these parameters prior to ordering such an item. After about a decade of using them, why now would I assume I would have to do so?

I am no longer going to order through Amazon, and will look for a different online vendor that has a more honest customer disclosure.

Buy from Amazon with caution.

"good value but know what you're getting before you buy!" 2009-12-28
By Kimmy in Valencia (Los Angeles, CA)
I also bought this at Costco... the value for the size is awesome! And considering that we live in such a disposable society (ie, this tv does NOT need to last 10-20 years, as previous tube tvs were expected to), I didn't want to invest heavily in something that probably is going to get replaced with a lighter, cheaper, better etc version in just a few years.

But with that said, I do not recommend this tv if you are a film buff. This tv is ideal for sports watchers, more than anything.

Yes, you can change the various settings but who wants to go through the menu each time they decide to go from channel to channel? My 32" Samsung and 32" Sharp shows all types of tv, including movies, really well.

But the Vizio will show movies without that "film look" so it looks like you're watching a Spanish soap opera. If you're thinking about getting this tv, just make sure you google "soap opera effect" so you know what you're getting.

Overall, this tv sits in the family room, which my husband uses mostly for watching sports or regular shows so it's not that big of a deal to me. But when I do want to watch a movie, I have to go through the menu to change everything. Even then, it's only minutely better... still not as good as my samsung or sharp.

These are the tradeoffs and overall, I'm pretty happy with it because it allowed us to fill a huge tv space in our built in entertainment wall for relatively cheap price. But I'm already thinking about replacing it in a few years when tvs continue to get better and cheaper.

 "Family Blu-ray fun" 2010-01-24
By Steven D. Johnson
We purchased our Vizio VBR100 direct from Amazon. We were surprised how quickly the Amazon store shipped. The set-up was rather simple. It was nice to have matching component with Vizio 32 inch LCD. We have the 720 resolution tv; not knowing Blue ray would shortly be part of our home entertainment system. We are already looking at 1080 resolution 37 or 42 LCD. Another Amazon purchase???

The pros of Blue Ray. Regular DVDs upgrade to TV resolution in our case 720. HDMI who invented this technology?? We only have two cables plugged into our TV. HDMI for HD Cable and HDMI cable for Blue ray player. We are also thinking about getting a dolby stereo with HDMI technology. Only three HDMI cables and a couple speaker wires? Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it??

Blue ray discs are great! We still need to try our BD live feature. I am now curious about updating the firmware. Vizio player picture quality? I have to be biased because I own a Vizio television.

The cons? The cons are few. Vizio needs to bring back its Vizio universal remote. I have to use a separate Vizio remote to change my HDMI selection on my Vizio TV. The setup noise. I almost had a melt down the first time I powered up the unit. I thought I had a broken player. No, its just plain noisy, during power up. Once you load the disc it purrs like a new born kitten. Start up time is slow when playing non-blue ray discs. Blue rays load up rather quickly.

Blue ray technology is going to remain hopefully a long time? The motion picture companies are slowly making new releases affordable. You can get a catalog selection of long time favorite list of Blue ray movies for the regular price of most regular dvds.

Closing statement: I have unplugged my long lived and still living dvd player from a competitive manufacture. I have a young family and a tight budget for diapers and formula. Vizio home entertainment, keeps a smile on dad's face.

 "Great Blu Ray Player" 2010-01-18
By Paul E. Seals (USA)
I bought this Blu Ray player when I purchased our VIZIO VF551XVT 55-Inch XVT because I guess I wanted the same brand of BR player as the TV.

Pro's: Great picture as good as more expensive players.

Looks Nice all touch panel front.

Has optical AND coaxial audio out.

Plays thru HDMI as well as the RCA out, only important if you plan on watching BR on more than one tv.

Middle: Remote is ok, not great not bad. as I said just ok.

Con's Noise. this player is a little noisy when you first turn it on. it make a loud hum for about 4sec. then all quite after that.

No net apps such as netflix (would be nice) pandora etc, if that's important to you then look somewhere else.

Other than a slight noise issue and the lack of internet apps, I can't fault this player for anything.

This player has an Excellent picture & great sound!

Well worth the money.

Watch for sales. I purchased from amazon for $100.

Good product. The noise level when you are putting a new disc in or powering up is kind of loud but once you play the disk you don't hear it any more. It was a surprise to hear it at first but it wouldn't keep me from buying it if I had known before.

Easy to set up. The remote has a lot of keys that you don't need. I still don't understand DVD / BluRay remotes that have number keys on them. But it does have everything you do need and it's not hard to use.

What I also like is that if you have a Vizio TV the BluRay remote will also change the volume on the TV.

Overall good purchase and I feel it was a good value.

"Took a chance on a low-end Blue Ray Player." 2010-01-07
By Sean Patzer (Fairbanks, AK United States)
Having a PS3 as my primary Home Theater playback device, the wife and I decided that we wanted to update our dvd player and tube in our bedroom. We bought a Samsung 550 32 inch TV and found we had limited funds for a Blue Ray player. Went to the local Wal*Mart and found this little player on sale for $120.

The problems that I have with this player is that on initial movie load, it is LOUD. The player vibrates, shakes and rattles. After the initial load, the player calms down and plays the movie without interruption or vibrations. I have inspected the discs after playback and seen no scratches on CDs, DVDs or BD-Discs.

Would I recommend this player, yes with a the caveat of the load noise.

 "Not the best performer" 2009-12-18
By Jeffrey Morse (Oroville CA USA)
I bought one of this when they first came out early last fall from a large discount store. I was really impressed as I unboxed it - it looked very nice and had a nice "hefty" feel to the case (unlike so many other players). I hooked it up to a 37" Vizio 1080p TV. The Blu-Ray quality was decent - nothing to write home about though. While it was better than an upconverted DVD of course, it didn't have the crispness to the image that I was expecting. I ran about three recent movies through it and all had the same result - good enough, but not great. Then I tried upconverting standard DVDs. That's where it really fell down. The image quality was much worse than my upconverting DVD player. No depth, fuzzy, stuttering in fast motion. Other disappointments were the weak sound quality with both DVDs and Blu-Rays and a very short range for the remote. I literally had to be in front of the player to activate it. The DVD player or TV had no issue with the same angle. All in all a weak effort from Vizio (and it went back).

Black Friday I grabbed a Toshiba BDX-2000 from Amazon. It has more or less the same specs as the Vizio but its performance is like night and day better. Sharper Blu-Ray, better upconverting (still not as good as my DVD player though), much better sound and greater remote range. I thought maybe I was being too harsh on the Vizio, but after having the Tosh for a few weeks I can see that I wasn't.

 "Great picture--no problems" 2010-01-11
By M. Molinaro (Philadelphia, PA USA)
Bought this at Target for around $470 (no, not cheapest price, I know, but we had to get one quick--grandkids coming the next day and the old Sony bit the dust). Setup was very easy. We like the appearance, although some people are bothered by the lighted brand name on the front (I don't notice it when I'm watching, but if I did I would just cover it with tape).

CONTROLS

Changing the image aspect ratio (how long, tall, compressed, etc. it looks) is harder than it need be--some remotes have a dedicated button for this, but as far as I can tell, it takes at least three clicks to get to the on-screen menu where you can change how much of the image appears. Other controls on the remote are pretty good--nice big rocker switches for volume and channel changes.

PICTURE QUALITY

With a good HD signal, color and sharpness are excellent--as good as any other set I've seen in stores or homes. Maybe not as bright as some large plasma screens I've seen. With poor signal or inferior station equipment (like the local college public access channels) the image is less good, as expected. Regular DVD's and VHS tapes look as good as their quality permits.

SOUND QUALITY

Like most other in-set speakers in relatively small tv's, the sound is nothing to write home about, and the controls can't help a whole lot. Thin bass, especially. But you were going to put the sound through your stereo setup anyway, like we do, right? Then the sound is as good as your stereo's speakers.

MISC

We just switched from an analog set (and cable) and I didn't realize that we would now get three and four channels where we used to get one. Nice surprise.

We sit about seven feet away from the screen and 32" is fine. If we were another four feet back it would start to feel too small, though.

OVERALL

Very satisfied, beautiful picture quality in most cases, no problems so far (a month).

 "Pop of Death" 2009-12-28
By J. McElroy (San Jose, CA USA)
Great price great picture.

Only problem is that after a year there was a loud pop then the tv no longer worked.

Vizio will not help and sent me to the non-warranty number.

I called that number 11 times without a response.

I googled and found that the problem is called the POP of Death.

Good tv if you consider tv's disposable.

 "at least a 4 star" 2009-12-06
By RW (MONTANA)
I've heard good things about Vizio over the last few years. I had my doubts on the product as buying one for my TV because they are low-cost and I figured the quality would follow. I was wrong. I ended up buying this Vizio (two weeks ago) as a computer monitor and not that much desire to use for video or HDTV but stumbled on a good price at cost co for 390 and being a 1080p I thought I would give it a try. It turned out to be a good choice. My computer matched up to it easily with a analog monitor output that plugged straigt into the TV analog input, along with the audio jack next to it (see the one of three pictures I uploaded). In terms of the quality of the TV/monitor resolution I am amazed it is this good with an analog connection (I honestly can't see a fault unless I'm playing a video full screen off the internet (netflix movie download). Regular DVD video is perfect, no resolution issues. What I have not checked out yet is the DVI digital to HDMI connection as I have a cable on order and should be testing this out next week - to see if the resolution improves when playing video at full screen off the internet. In view of web pages full screen off the internet - I see no problem even using this analog serial monitor connection (my comuter has the resolution setting at 1920x1080).

I also wanted to point out that I have my Vizio connected to a 2-month old HP, slimline 5150t computer. It has 4 gig of ram and it was just under $500 - not an expensive computer, and I'm running Windows 7. I'm happy with the compatability with the Vizio but if I had it to order over again (the computer) I would have ordered the HDMI graphic card option rather than end up with a DVI monitor jack which doesn't pass audio when connected to the TV. Where, an HDMI connection passes the full audio and video. For the extra $60 to HP it would have been worth the money and a perfect match up with the Vizio.

I'll update this comment after I get my new DVI to HDMI cable and let you know if/how it improves. Right now I can say I'm really happy with the Vizio, its much better than my 4 year old, $500 20" Dell monitor I unplugged.

My Vizio 37" 1080p HDTV is the best. The first thing I liked was the price...Even cheaper than Walmart, if you can believe that! My next purchase will be another Vizio HDTV for the bedroom. Great job, Vizio!

"Excellent TV - No analog audio out" 2010-01-06
By kb-hunter (Los Gatos)

This TV is an excellent TV marred by a dumb and short-sighted design choice.

Vizio doesn't make it easy to compare across models with their seemingly pointless array of models with overlapping audiences. Their website is also quite poor in that regard. When I couldn't find the "compare" button on their website after adding various models to the "compare list" I called their 1-800 number. Their rep also couldn't find the button!! It's been that way for the past two weeks.

Coming back to this TV -- the picture, sound, the looks everything is great with this TV. But I am really mad that they decided to leave out a simple analog Audio-out for such a high-end TV. It has FOUR HDMI inputs, two composite inputs, and a component input, and an RGB input -- going quite overboard as far as the inputs are concerned if you ask me, but inexplicably skimps on when it comes to the output side.

The USB input, which is functional in this model instead of "service only" as in many other comparable models, is okay for an occasional slideshow of a photo album or something. But keeping a drive (thumb drive, or hard drive) connected all the time would require you to press "okay" for a prompt every time you turn the TV on. Quite annoying.

I haven't had much luck with the pause-live feature which allows you to pause live-TV similar to Tivo if you plug in a blank USB drive. I am hoping it is because of some issue with the speed of the thumb-drive; Even then, if it means having to press okay every time I turn the TV on I would much rather skip using that. Please see above.

The lack of analog out, in my opinion, is very irritating, annoying, and frustrating. In fact, I have some choice words for the people responsible for this decision at Vizio, but Amazon would not print the review if I include that.

Because of this I cannot connect my wireless headphones which I would use for all my late night TV watching. This model does have a headphone out, but plugging anything in that disconnects the main audio. So it is all or nothing, and hence not usable for connecting something permanently. Now, I have to look for a digital to analog converter which retails around 70-80 bucks.

It is well known that many people hook up these TV's to home audio systems. Given that it is quite audacious on Vizio's part to assume that a single optical digital out is all is needed. So I am giving this otherwise very fine TV only 3 stars.

 "I like it" 2010-01-03
By Clark Miller (Calhoun, GA)
I have had this tv for about a month now and I like it. I use this tv with a small hd over the air antenna and the hd picture that comes in with just that is remarkably clear. This tv is user friendly and has lots of inputs for other devices to be added to it. The sound is not very loud but sounds pretty good. The only real problem that I have is that while this tv does have a usb port for a flash drive to be hooked up to it, when you first turn on the tv it has to take the time to "read" all of the files that are on it before it will display anything, that is very annoying to me because I wanted to leave the external drive hooked up to it all the time but because of this I have to unplug it when not in use.
